I've conquered for Cancer Council

Why am I walking

When I was 21, my father got leukemia.  It was a devastating diagnosis that ended up killing him 6 months later.

20 years later, my 3 year old niece got leukemia. She responded well to treatment and is now at university and thriving.

The improvement in cancer treatment in those 20 years was amazing. I believe we can continue to make it even more amazing, until having a cancer diagnosis isn't devastating, but more of an inconvenience, like having a heavy cold.

I’m walking for a cancer free future

I’m taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 20 October 2024 and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour. 

In my life, I've lost my father, my boyfriend and 2 friends to cancer.  Many, many more of my friends and relatives have beaten cancer, thankfully.

I'd love to see a day when a cancer diagnosis isn't a crisis, but instead a bit of a hassle. When we can go "Oh no, you poor thing" the way we do when someone catches the flu.

So far this year I’ve helped provide:

13 kids with a SunSmart education

9 calls to trained cancer professionals on 13 11 20

2 days of a PHD student’s world-class research
