I've conquered for Cancer Council
The walk is done!
Hi Everyone,Thanks for donating to this worthy cause.
My team completed the walk yesterday in stunning Sydney conditions, blue skies and sunshine. We beat our time last year and had a great time :-)
Body has some aches and pains but all worthwhile!
I’m walking for a cancer free future
I'm taking on 7 Bridges Walk on Sunday 20 October 2024 (again!) and will be uniting with the community to walk 28km around Sydney Harbour.
Every year in NSW alone, more than 53,000 new cases of cancer are expected to be diagnosed. Approximately 5-10% of these cases will be caused due to a faulty gene.
Only 1% of the population carries these genes, and that's where my team comes in! My mum, sister, two brothers and I all have a faulty gene (BRCA1) putting us at a much higher risk of developing cancer over our lifetime. My personal risk is 80% for Breast Cancer and 40% for Ovarian Cancer.
I have some difficult decisions ahead to prevent a cancer diagnosis however I have seen the advancements in research and treatment over the last 12 years with my parents both surviving and beating cancer multiple times.
Please help us to raise fund and help those affected by cancer. Every step counts because all funds raised will help Cancer Council work towards the vision of a cancer free future. Thank you for your support!
